Boat Ramp at Kaw Point

The Kaw River Boat Ramp is being re-built at the original location at S. 9th St. and Woodend Rd, Edwardsville, KS. This is an all volunteer project. We are only able to do this project with the help of volunteers and the use of a professional design. This new ramp will provide public access to the Kansas River.

If you would like to help , just call City Hall or let Mike Calwell, Project Coordinator, Friends of the Kaw, know at (913) 677- 7752.

Mike will answer your questions about what, when and how we will finish this project. Work days will fall on Fridays and Saturdays December thru February depending on weather. Leave your name and number so that Mike may call you. The grading work has started so if you are interested please drive over to the site and have a look at it.

The kind of help that is needed will include the following kinds of basic labor:

1. raking and smoothing the graded ramp surface to prepare for concrete.

2. placing & staking forms for concrete

3. setting and tying rebar in the forms

4. pouring, placing and finishing concrete

5. grooving the surface for traction

6. Removal of forms

7. General clean up of site

8. Placement of rock along sides of ramp

9. Miscellaneous clean up
