Schedule Change: the St. Charles Discovery Expedition will bring five dugout canoes to Kaw Point Saturday morning. Two re-enactors will talk with visitors about the canoes. The canoes will leave Saturday afternoon at 4:00 p.m. 

The Boulevard Brewery will bring their pontoon boat to Kaw Point Saturday morning and answer questions about the brewery and the boat. The boat will leave Sunday evening at 7:00 p.m.

If you missed it the first time---this is your second chance! The keelboat will return to the Kansas City area on Sunday, May 1st, 1pm at the Lewis & Clark Historic Park at Kaw Point.

Walk through a historically accurate camp site of 1805. Hear the story of Lewis and Clark’s scientific discoveries as they carry specimens, maps and new information back to Thomas Jefferson. We’ll also have live music and entertainment, hourly scholar presentations and the Newfoundland dogs. Join us for this free family event!

Full Moon Rising Over the City II
Enjoy the music of Don Lipovac on accordion and Dan Sturdevant on keyboards and vocals as they play river, moon and international songs in a beautiful, rustic setting. $10 donation requested with proceeds going toward the Lewis & Clark Task Force. Seating is limited so please bring a lawn chair. 

Saturday, September 17 - 6:00 p.m.
"Incident at Kaw Point" 
Kyle Carroll will lead a small group of reenactors in a crossing of the Kaw by pirogue, bringing to life the 1802 Incident at Kaw Point. The story of this event comes from the journals of French trader Perrin du Lac who wrote in 1802, 2 years prior to Lewis and Clark’s arrival in 1804, that his trading party fought with the Sioux Indians at this historic river confluence . Join us for the fun as we are transported back to 1802 and into the scene immediately after the fight, with the canoes coming back across the Kaw to make sure the Indians have gone and to salvage what they can of their trade goods.

Missouri River Watershed Festival
Join the Lewis & Clark Task Force at the River!
 
The Missouri Department of Conservation's annual Missouri River Watershed Festival will be at Kaw Point on Friday, October 7, 2005. The 9am to 2pm slot, open to middleschoolers, will feature presentations on rivers, watershed, aquatic ecology, water quality, storm water, recycling, wildlife, bottomland ecology and the natural history of the area.
