Friends of Kaw Point Park (FOKPP) has establish a unique outdoor water quality education activity called Hydrocaching or geocaching with a twist. This activity focuses on teaching participants about the causes and effects of stormwater runoff and water pollution in watersheds of the Missouri River while learning about the geography and topography of the area. FOKPP has placed many hydrocaches near creeks, streams, rivers, and lakes in Kansas City, Missouri - sites focus on either a simple water test or on Best Management Practices to reduce stormwater pollution. There are also several geocaches in the park. This project was funded by KC Water Service contracts awarded to Friends of Kaw Point Park.
