The site concept plan for Lewis and Clark Historic Park at Kaw Point was designed by HNTB in September 2002.

The design features:

1.  The Education Center is an open-air pavilion with interpretive displays and computer touch screens with information about the expedition and local ecology.

2.  A Boat Ramp and Dock will allow for easy river access for visitors who wish to engage in their very own Lewis and Clark adventures.

3.   A Riverfront Boardwalk and interpretive walking Trails will allow history buffs and nature lovers to enjoy the beauty and ecosystem of our Midwestern riverfront.

4.   The Confluence of Nations Plaza is a one of a kind venue celebrating the contributions and culture of native peoples in this area.

5.   A Mural, Historical Marker and other Artwork will adorn the site.

6.   Donor and Sponsor  Recognition, along with picnic and recreational areas will make this a hometown historical park to enjoy with the entire family., viewing areas, trails, redoubt, and restrooms. The Discovery Expedition of St. Charles, which will be at the park during the bicentennial commemoration in June 2004, will be located in the area numbered "6".

The site concept phasing plan (PDF file) shows which areas will be completed first. For more information about the site plan, contact Shari Wilson at wilson-shari@swbell.net.
