As they explored the land along the river, the men probably found paths and trails which the Indians used when they hunted and fished or when visiting neighboring villages. In our quilt the first block is called OLD INDIAN TRAILS.

Along the way there were many birds, large and small, flocks of birds and water birds and singing birds. And in the forest there were wild turkeys which left TURKEY TRACKS behind. They couldn't fly very far but they were good at hiding so they were hard to hunt. But when the hunters were lucky, the explorers had a good dinner.
